22nd Nov 2014 (無朋友 – Hacken Lee)

The song for today is “無朋友” by Hacken Lee. This song is a reader request, it is a recent song. The English translation of the title is “No friends”.

The lyrics of the song are about how we got fewer friends as we growth up due to the fact that we need to take care of our families (or other duty imposed on us through life). It said: Hey, we haven’t seen each other for like ten lifetime. There are around 50 to 60 friends that he hasn’t called for ages, he is worries that when he see them again, it would be their funeral. Why we isolated ourselves? Those who we could synchronise before, he is now worry that he got nothing to talk to them now. They were so close, yet now they are in a different category. After work we shake hands and said that we really want to meet up again in the future. We politely smile and walk away, now we got no friend. We say we will meet up in ten year time to have a drink, but it is nothing close to chatting online every night. He got no friends on earth now. Hey, perhaps that we are old now, we understand that when we have problem, we can slowly sort it out ourselves so no need to trouble our friends. Slowly we realised the important of home. WE used to go out very frequently, now we preferred to cook noddles at home. Who is our best friend? We forget after we done all the house work.  After work we shake hands and said that we really want to meet up again in the future. We politely smile and walk away, now we got no friend. We say we will meet up in ten year time to have a drink, but it is nothing close to chatting online every night. Facing so many windows, but there are no friends. When you cry and sing a few lines from “最佳損友” (a song by Eason Chan), he is next to you but couldn’t sing out loud. He got no friends now. When you have lived on earth for so long, you will be able to see through everything and accept everything. So the moment you become adult, you already got no friends. The older he gets, the fewer friends he got. But in exchange, he got his sons and daughters to accompany him. He only hopes that someday they could meet up again. Hey, old friends.
