21st Feb 2015 (恭喜發財 – Alan Tam)

The song for today is “恭喜發財” by Alan Tam. Continuing that Chinese New Year theme from the last two days, this is another Chinese New Year song. This one is not too popular now as it doesn’t sound too much like one of those typical New Year songs. It was released in 1985 and it was a theme song for a movie with the same name. The title of the song is a phase that many people said during Chinese New Year, which is “Wish you wealthy”.

The lyrics of the song are pretty much just full of wishes just like many other Chinese New Year songs. The protagonist said, wish you wealthy, wish you wealthy, so wealthy that you will be full of joy. Wish you wealthy, wish you wealthy, if you believe you will definitely make a profit. Congrats, I said congrats, this year will be so happy that you will be full of joy. Grandpa will be able to hug his grandkids and full of luck; wishing his descendants to get together and enough to fill the ground (this is an old Chinese idea that it is good/luck to have many kids). Mister will rises and housewife will make a few more dishes every meal. Everyone in the family will get together, being happy and celebrate. I wish that every lady to be beautiful and attractive, wishing every business to be able to remain their capital and will make a profit. Kids will grow fast and will work hard, every subject will get ‘A’ grad. Wish you wealthy, wish you wealthy. Congrats, I said congrats, those that are single will have a good partner this year. Couples will be peaceful and will have kids. The kid will be fat (another old Chinese idea, as fat people tends to be wealthy and so doesn’t need to worry about his future) and cute, every day he will smile. Being happy will bring you joy, Having good health and stay strong and happy will make you stop feeling down. I wish that you will remember happiness so that it will be fun through your life. Keep trying and eventually you will success. Keep loving the beauty of Hong Kong, I will forever love this happy land. I wish that you will remember happiness so that it will be fun through your life. Keep trying and eventually you will success. Keep loving the beauty of Hong Kong, I will forever love it, I will forever love this happy land. Hope you will like the song.
