4th Mar 2013 (愛情陷阱 – Alan Tam/背中ごしにセンチメンタル – Kumi Miyasato (宫里久美))

The song that I chose for today is “愛情陷阱” by Alan Tam. This is a classic by Alan. It is the Chinese cover version of the Japanese song “背中ごしにセンチメンタル” by Kumi Miyasato (宫里久美). The direct English translation of the title is “Trap of love”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist falling in love. The protagonist at the start said that he was walking on his path wishing that her path would cross his. He said that if he sees her again, he will express his love to her. He walk and walk, following different signs, and he fallen into a love trap. Her beauty had make him fainted. He feels that he is trap in a love nest, yet his love one is looking at him from the outside and not trying to release him. She laugh at him like he is her prey, his heart is broken. He felt hatred, loved and agitated. He asked why he is the one fallen into this trap.

This song is truly a classic and it is often taken as an example of 80’s Hong Kong music. Last year, Eason Chan sung a song call “重口味” which pay tribute to 80’s music. This song actually resemblance some part of “愛情陷阱”. In fact, it got a special remix that bland the two songs together and Eason asked Alan to sing with him.

I have linked to both Alan’s version and the original Japanese version (the Japanese song was a theme song of an animate call “Megazone 23” (In Chinese “無限地帶23”). Hope you will enjoy the song.

    1. Thanks for the link!!! I didn’t know Alan sung an English version of this song. 80’s and 90’s really are the golden days of Cantonese music.

  2. You are most welcome, Sunny!

It's not just Cantonese music. It applies to English music as well.

    For your information:
Alan sang quite a few of his popular songs in English.
Other popular songs in 80's and 90's are available in English but sang by other artists.
